716 Hip Hop: J Heat, Dead Trash Mob and more
by Khari Waits

Khari Waits is an Artvoice blogger and hip hop performer known as Coleman J. Brahski. He is 25 years-old and his primary musical interests are hip hop and hardcore (he is also the vocalist of hardcore band HUNS). His mission is to keep his ears open to all of the freshest Buffalo based music that floats around the internet. Waits is here to pick up 716 Hip Hop and a new blog, Crossing Lines, which will cover the Buffalo hardcore scene. You’ll find his latest picks here. Keep your eyes open for more. You can take a glimpse into his inspirations by following his tumblr page

J Heat dropped “100 Real Bars in Buffalo” as a response to “100 Bars in Buffalo” by John Boy. John Boy’s claim to fame was his association with SODMG and being a Western New York native, but his lyricism left a lot of hip hop heads unimpressed. J Heat’s style is firmly rooted in late 1990’s New York: strong punchlines, beats made strictly for head nodding, and no room for compromise. Check out “100 Real Bars in Buffalo” below:

There’s so much coming from the Dead Trash Mob collective right now that three sentences could not do them justice. Resident beat-smith sparKmatiK has been cranking out tracks left and right as of late and has a solo instrumental album in the works while Chronic Collective (Alibi and Illusive) are gearing up to debut “Chronicology.” The track “Bipolar and Agitated” is a certified club banger, produced by Trapasaurus Flex.
