Exit Music Mix 014: Spruke

Exit Music Mix 014: Spruke

You might not recognize Spruke from any DJ bills around Buffalo, but he’s definitely working. The Buffalo based producer/DJ, real name Bill Boulden, has been pumping out EPs since 2009, but he’s been in the game for a while—producing music for over 10 years—known previously as half of synthpop/electronic act, AKP. His  soundcloud page is loaded with DJ sets and original productions, so if this is your introduction to Spruke, and you like what you hear, there is a lot to dig through including his 2010 industrial synthpop record, Infektipede EP and his latest release, the Factor Friction EP, available on his website. The 28-year-old producer let loose a seriously high energy mix for this installment, full of neon, short-circuiting synth-pop and some heavy bass and dubstep too. There is no tracklisting here because, as he told me, he did this on the fly, bringing in tracks as he felt out the vibe of the mix. Check out his podcast, Bump In The Night, every Monday and look for more from this up-and-coming local talent. While you’re here check out this deep house mix from Rufus Gibson, and some past mixes from  Paul KeunziSwaggleRockBig Basha DJ CutlerLokiMedison, and DJ DStar. —cory perla
