Artpark’s 2011 summer line-up just got a lot stronger. Indie-rock superstars Bright Eyes will perform a FREE concert at the venue as part of the Coor’s Light Wednesday concert series on Wednesday, July 27. The announcement of this huge concert comes a month earlier than originally intended.
“We wanted to give an early indication of the new direction of the Coors Light Wednesday Series for 2011 and there could not be a better way to do it than announcing this outstanding concert. When the balance of the season is announced it will be clear that this series is taking on an identity of its own…one that we hope will attract a newer and younger audience to Artpark,” said Artpark President George Osborne.
Bright Eyes is 31 year-old singer/songwriter Conor Oberst, a native of Omaha Nebraska, joined by producer Mike Mogis, and trumpet and piano player Nate Walcot. The trio has been writing music together since the mid 1990’s but rose to fame during the indie-rock rush of the early 2000’s with albums like I’m Wide Awake It’s Morning and Lifted or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground. In February of this year the band released their seventh studio album, The People’s Key a musically and instrumentally varied indie folk album.
The full 2011 Artpark summer concert line-up will be announced on Thursday May 5. Stay tuned to Artpark’s Facebook page, Twitter feed, and website at www.artpark.net.
