LCD Soundsystem release new track

I have a lot of faith in James Murphy so I didn’t really think much of it when I heard the outrageous new single from LCD Soundsystem called “Drunk Girls.” You can probably imagine what this song sounds like based on the title and if you’re sitting at your computer right now reading this and listening to the song just remember it’s only one 4 minute long track on an album that will be 9 tracks and over an hour long. “Drunk Girls” is clearly an attempt by Murphy to gain some commercial success and despite how this track comes off, the man deserves it. Both of LCD’s full length albums, 2005’s s/t and 2006’s Sound of Silver, were critically acclaimed and nominated for Grammy’s in the Best Electronic/Dance Music category. So although “Drunk Girls” is no “Someone Great” or “Losing My Edge”  the lyrics are classically Murphy and the whole track comes off a little bit satirical as usual. The only other music I’ve heard off of their yet unreleased and yet untitled new album was 30 seconds of a track called “Pow Pow” and from what I can tell, it’s a bit more like the LCD Soundsystem we’re used to.
