FIAMMA’S NEW DEAL…

Although WNY Restaurant Week is officially over, Fiamma Steak (1735 Hertel Ave, Buffalo, 716-834-2662) has extended the $20.09 fixed-price menu promotion until May 1, 2009! The limited time menu features a choice of Petit Filet Mignon OR Pan Seared Atlantic Salmon served with roasted garlic mashed potatoes & grilled asparagus. Please keep in mind that the offer excludes Saturdays, tax & gratuity.

Fiamma’s also featuring 7 different entrees for under $25.00 including Buttermilk Fried Chicken ($19), Pancetta & Pesto-crusted Atlantic Salmon ($24), and a Prime Double-Cut Pork T-Bone ($19). 

If you feel like taking a break from cooking over Easter weekend, Fiamma’s serving a special holiday menu. Appetizers include Smoked Salmon Carpaccio adorned with capers & creamy horseradish vinaigrette ($12) and a Ricotta & Asparagus Frittata  ($8). Entrees vary from Filet of Lemon Sole ($22) to Lemon Caper Chicken served w/ garlic mashed potatoes & grilled spring vegetables ($19). Ginger Ale Glazed Ham Steak & Roast Leg of Lamb are also part of the festive menu. For holiday hours, reservations, and additional info, call 716-834-2662.

    I thought Restaurant Week was a *week* long. Nothing against Fiama or the other restaurants that extended their deals, its just that restaurant week’s are successful in other major cities and they don’t feel the need to extend theirs. It’s kind of silly and maybe a little desperate or greedy. Why wouldn’t you just double it up and do two a year instead of dragging it out over a month. Between that and the restaurants that decided it was a get rich quick scheme offering measly portions, I think Buffalo doesn’t get it. Should someone have explained it to them?

    Having been to Boston’s and NYC’s restaurant week this year(and many times in years past), I will say that you are wrong. Many restaurant’s in these cities extend the promotion all month simply to get customers in the door. Sure restaurant week has some faults, but what you’re accusing isn’t at all because the restaurants are Buffalo based.

    While I support this legislation (and would like to see it extended to ear cutting in dogs) I have to wonder how many DVMs there are in NYS and whether 115 is in any way a significant number.
