YAK Car Pic of the Day

58 ply sprt sub 50-foot woman

Nothing like a cheesy 1950s sci-fi movie on a cold autumn evening. Yes folks, it’s still only autumn here in Western New York! Last night on TCM it was 1958’s The Attack of the 50-Foot Woman. In this scene, the “very clean even though it’s been driving down a dirt road” 1958 Plymouth Sport Suburban is about to be picked up and tossed by a giant man from the nearby space ship; when it hits the ground it miraculously turns into a 1949 Chevy Styline Deluxe (below). Guess the producers (and perhaps the car’s real owner, the Chrysler Corporation) just weren’t up to destroying a brand new car. Cheapskates.

67 fury cab the conversation

Okay, I apologize for the rather poor quality of this photo, but we just finished watching the DVR’d movie The Conversation, which showed a short time ago on Turner Classic Movies. This was a Gilbert Gottfried-recommended flick which was… unusual, to say the least. As was the paint job on this 1967 Plymouth Fury II San Francisco cab featured for about a nano-second in the movie. So unusual I just had to post it here.
