This 1979 Chrysler LeBaron Medallion two-door coupe was photographed with a For Sale sign in the window a couple of summers ago in a North Tonawanda lot. If you’re interested, it was still there as of a couple of days ago. Okay, maybe it’s missing a few things — like air in that rear tire, for instance. But overall it doesn’t look to be in bad shape. This was the Chrysler version of the Dodge Diplomat, many of which went on to police car and taxi cab fame as four door sedans. The LeBaron also came in a very distinguished-looking four-door, especially in black with the black vinyl top. Standard powerplant for the LeBaron was a 225 CID six, mated to a floor-mounted four-speed overdrive manual transmission. I wonder if any LeBarons actually left the factory with that set-up? I highly doubt it, at least not for U.S. consumption. You can peruse the LeBaron brochure here, and armchair shop for one of your own.
