Slim and No Chance of Mayoral Control of School Board–It’s Just Another Farce

carl fox business

By Carl Paladino

As it stands now the chances of Mayoral control of the Buffalo Public Schools (BPS) are 1 in 10.

If it were to pass State government, it will never survive in the courts.

The lack of basic understanding of constitutional law by Byron Brown and Darius Pridgen is astounding. What if every time we disagreed with one of their decisions we threw them out of office?

As for Wilmers, Koelmel, White and the group of 18 liberal elitists trying to manipulate from behind the curtain, this loss will show that they and the Board of Education (BOE) minority (former majority) have become irrelevant as leaders in this community.  In the past they gave us three incompetent carpetbaggers as Superintendents who came with no institutional knowledge and talked big but didn’t have the ability or gut to stand up to those parasites who breed off of the power and money of the BPS.

How many additional family members are Grass Roots and Crystal Peoples looking to put on the BPS payroll? She already has two no-shows on the Municipal Housing Authority.

She also wants to set quotas to replace the merit system with a race based system to destroy what is left of morale in the Buffalo Public Schools (BPS.).

The cowardly conspiracy of Black elected and not elected leaders, union leadership and private business people to maintain the status quo for their own empowerment with no regard for the thousands of children now held hungry and uneducated, circling the drain, as captives in the cycle of poverty, is solely for the purpose of providing the voting base for liberal candidates.

It is no secret that that ineffective leadership in the past resulted in the generational dysfunction of the BPS that we suffer today.

“Mayoral Control” is an act of desperation, similar to the incompetent minority Board members who, for lack of any articulate, intelligent argument, comment or solution on an issue, blurt the race card.

This attempt to remove from office reform minded Board members, elected specifically to change the direction of the BPS, is an affront to the taxpayers and parents of Buffalo and an unconstitutional abuse, illustrating only the desperation of those whose watch has ended.

I made a facetious suggestion a while back that Mr. Paladino was going to buy Artvoice simply to silence Alan Bedenko’s articles. With Alan’s departure for the Daily Public as a forum for his writing, did this happen, or does Carl again just have a bad sense of timing? Strange choice of forums for Mr. Paladino to choose to air his views.

    • starrrbuck

It’s a strange choice of forums only if one presumes that all readers of Artvoice would automatically reject a particular argument for an ad hominem reason of who wrote it.

Artvoice is a liberal rag with a liberal audience- the ones that need to be reached. It is NOT the conservatives who are against school improvement. (Liberals want it too, they claim, but to them it means more ‘funding’ and just more of the same failure, only with more money spent on it)

    • Jamie and Carl are friends, but when I wrote for Artvoice I was merciless in my criticism of Paladino, and never once did Jamie (or Geoff) hold me back.

The fact that Carl now has posting privileges on this blog did, however, factor into my decision to leave, but there were others. You may remember that I wrote independently for a few months before moving over to the Public.

In any event, Carl isn’t the worst – there’s another clown with a login on this blog who claims that prize.

I have no beef with Jamie.

Carl, you are doing such a phenomenal job of fixing Buffalo Public Schools that I can’t for the life of me understand why anyone would want to replace you. Keep up the great work and know that the disenfranchised underdogs across WNY love having you as their effective, progressive, articulate and community-strengthening leader. You should consider running for President, sir. I know of at least one person who would vote for you.

I also was surprised Carl posted this letter here. Then again I suspect he is closet Roller Derby fan.
That said, and ignoring all Carl’s caustic remarks he is for the most part correct. This whole Mayoral takeover gig is pretty transparently pure politics in motion. I for one can’t envision a worse solution to the BPS problems than throwing the thing even more to politicians.
After all, the problems are not created for the most part by the teachers or their union. If main blame is to be applied it resides on the doorstep of politicians to begin with.
How about turning the whole thing over to the teachers in the classrooms. That hasn’t been tried and is probably the best hope we have.

HOW MANY MORE YEARS SHOULD WE ALLOW BUFFALO SCHOOL TO FAIL?

HOW MANY MORE YEARS SHOULD BUFFALO SCHOOL SYSTEM CHURN OUT FAILURE?

  • Ali K. Duh

Peace be on you Carl! You and I have so much in common! You are my hero!

  • David

It’s funny he names the only two black public figures all communities know of. Racist jerk.

    • starrrbuck

What’s funny is if you’re implying that Brown, Pridgen, and Peoples-Stokes should all be immune from very strong criticism on this topic and that only Wilmers and Koelmel should be blamed for it.

Paladino’s letter names and attacks two Caucasian bank executives: Wilmers and Koelmel, yet you comment that he names “only two black public figures”.

It also mentions the two top ranking elected city officials: Mayor Byron Brown and Common Council President Darius Pridgen, neither of whom have spoken out publicly against this legislation, and the legislation’s author/sponsor: Crystal Peoples-Stokes.

    • Michael Kosak

Is the Buffalo School system working or not? It is CLEARLY a failure in every regard- What is Carl doing that you would NOT do if your children were at stake?

  • Fred the Barbarian

Carl’s still alive? That’s a shame. Still, though, how many more rageouts can he have before the inevitable?

    • Michael Kosak

that was a sick comment- you should be ashamed of yourself.- 0h wait- are you one of those loving and caring liberals? I guess its OK then

      • Fred the Barbarian

I hope your children gay marry black people. While dancing on your grave.

      • Michael Kosak

I love it when liberals show their true colors

      • Fred the Barbarian

I’m not a liberal. Try “armed leftist.” Let me know if you need a helping hand to heaven, pervert.
