Coming up on the halfway point of the QCRG home league regular season the Alley Kats and Saucies will meet for the first time this Friday night at Riverworks. The third bout of the season for both teams, the Kats will be looking for their first win in home league play since they defeated the Saucies 141-135 way back in January of 2012. The Kats joke that this streak should make Buffalo fans “right at home” cheering for them, but the team is poised to take a step forward this year with transfers of veterans Lip Service and Crown Victoria and the rise of jammer InSINerator.

The Saucies are looking to return to their former glory as they started off the first four years of QCRG (2007-2011) undefeated. They have been oh so close to knocking off the current champions the Knockouts, but they are going to have to also take care of teams like the Kats if they want to get back on top. With no rookies this year and a healthy roster the Saucies believe this is their time.

Doors open at Riverworks (359 Ganson St. Buffalo) at 7pm and the bout starts at 7:30. Front row seating is $20, general admission is $15 and kids under 12 are $10 (at the door only). You can purchase tickets at

Storylines to Watch

InSINerator v Head Huntress: InSINerator is one of the leagues best jammers and has improved so much on her lateral movement. Her size at 5’11 gives her advantage, but this game will be a tough test as Sin’s size will be matched by Head Huntress, one of the leagues best blockers who is 5’9. No one in the league blocked more jams than Huntress last year at 134 – next closest was 112 – this means both will be on the track often so you can expect this battle to last all bout.

Penalties: The Alley Kats struggle with penalties, with players near the top of the league in penalties each year. For the Kats to give themselves the best chance to get back into the win column they are going to need to play more disciplined derby.

OMG THE ALLEY KATS PLAYER PHOTOS ARE AMAZING: No, it’s not entirely relevant to the game. Yes, I am a “cat man.” If you are in need of something to joyfully waste 5 minutes of your life on be sure to check them out.
