Here’s a press release from Rita Yelda from Food and Water Watch:
Buffalo, New York – On Monday, March 9 at 7 p.m. Jon Bowermaster will be presenting a sneak peek of his new film “Dear President Obama: Americans Against Fracking In One Voice” at Buffalo State College. Jon Bowermaster is the filmmaker of music-protest film “Dear Governor Cuomo,” which played a role in moving Governor Andrew Cuomo to act against fracking in New York State. In his new film, Bowermaster takes on President Barack Obama with a national look at the issue of fracking. The film profiles the victims of fracking across the U.S., speaks with experts on the topic, and takes a look at alternative energy sources gaining traction around the globe.
Following the film will be a Q&A session with filmmaker Jon Bowermaster, as well as representatives from local organizations, who will bring Western New Yorkers up to speed on what’s transpired in the state since the Cuomo administration’s decision to ban fracking on December 17th. This event is free and open to the public and will take place on Buffalo State College campus in Bulger Communications Center (North), and parking is available in lot I-35. For more information on the film, visit www.dearpresidentobamafilm.com.
“Governor Cuomo showed true leadership when he safeguarded New Yorkers’ from the public health and environmental issues surrounding fracking. Indeed many communities across the U.S. are feeling the negative impacts of shale gas extraction and this film aims to show their experience. The body of scientific studies and accounts of fracking’s negative public health impact only continues to grow, and now is the time for President Obama to also take a stand against fracking,” stated Rita Yelda, Western NY Organizer for Food & Water Watch.
