There is a musician joke that goes like this:

Q: How is a drum solo like a sneeze?

A: You can tell it’s coming, but there’s nothing you can do about it.

We all know it’s a funny joke because a badly played drum solo is one of the most unpleasant experiences a member of a live audience can endure.

But anyone who ever had the pleasure of seeing Ted Reinhardt play live knows how engaging and entertaining a great drum solo can be.

There’s a lot of sadness in the Buffalo Music Community after the news of his death in a plane crash with two friends. Here’s the story from Lou Michel of The Buffalo News.

And here’s Reinhardt playing a solo with Gamalon from 1988…

And here’s another from December, 2011…

Reinhardt is being remembered as a great musical talent, and a really cool guy.
