YAK Car Pic of the Day

From a time when cars were big and trunks were small apartments, comes this 1939 Buick Special Model 41. The brochure doesn’t mince words when describing this car: “A five-passenger four-door touring sedan with trunk back.” Buick had a rather huge lineup back in ’39, with (starting at the top): Limited (140 inch wheelbase); Roadmaster (133″ wb); Century (126″ wb); and Special (120″ wb), and they came in two- and four-door sedans, convertibles, phaetons, coupes, business coupes… that’s alotta wheelbases and alotta bodystyles. Imagine being a salesman back in the day and trying to keep all of that straight (especially when they all look pretty much the same — check the brochure). Saw this black sedan over the summer in Niagara Falls.
