YAK Car Pic of the Day

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

It’s always summer someplace. Isn’t it? Well, it was the day I photographed this 1972 Saab Sonett III at the Hemming’s Sports & Exotic Car Show in Saratoga Springs. The summer of 2012, to be exact. This is probably one of the least-known of Saab models… a Saab sports car? Sure, why not? It was powered by a German Ford V-4 engine and had front wheel-drive. A front wheel-drive sports car? Sure, why not? It’s a Saab after all, and you had to expect the unexpected. Like for instance when the original Sonett was introduced it had a three-cylinder, two-stroke engine and a column-mounted shifter. Sure, why not!
