Underneath the body, which was styled by the Italian carrozzeria Ghia and hand-made by the German coach-builder Karmann, this 1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia was essentially a Beetle. The chassis, the engine — a carbon copy of the famous Think Small-mobile which was the best-selling import in the U.S. The KG was produced in coupe and cabriolet form, and from 1955 to 1974 over 445,000 of them left the factory. Officially it was marketed as a 2+2 but really, who was gonna squeeze into that back seat? Saw this one last week in Youngstown.
