YAK Car Pic of the Day

TomM car talk dart3-bigScreen Shot 2014-11-03 at 10.57.13 PMIn a tribute to Tom Magliozzi, here he is with his beloved 1963 Dodge Dart convertible, appropriately parked in a No Parking zone. Magliozzi is much better known as Click (or is is Clack), one of the Tappet Brothers from the NPR Saturday morning Car Talk program. He passed away yesterday at the age of 77 from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. Many regular listeners of the show weren’t even car fans, but they were Click and Clack fans, as the brothers infectious laughter and inane answers to mechanical questions won over listeners who wouldn’t know a spanner from a caliper. He’ll be greatly missed.

After listening to Tom’s infectious laughter all of these years, yesterday was a bleak day for me. We’re lucky to have CT in reruns to revisit the joy Tom and his brother generated.

The way I kept them straight was remembering Tom was the unsnorting one, laughterwise.

    “Don’t drive like my brother!”

I’ve always wanted a Dart convertible.
