YAK Car Pic of the Day

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

jc yak ny 87-93No one was more surprised than I was the day a couple of summers ago that I came across this 1988 Chevy Corsica parked in a driveway on Grand Island. Not only does it look still intact and rust-free, it’s wearing current tags as is apparently in use. Most of these things dissolved into piles of rust dust years ago. The two-door version of this car was called Beretta, and industry number-crunchers were upset when Chevy lumped the sales numbers of both cars together to make it one of the year’s best sellers. Taken individually, the Corsica and Beretta numbers wouldn’t have bettered as many nameplates as they did as a tandem. Toyota did the same thing, with the same results, a few years back with the Matrix wagon and the Corolla sedan.

I have a 1988 Corsica and I am in love with it, it runs perfect and i have not had to do anything but basic maintenance and i get better gas mileage than most new cars.
