YAK Car Pic of the Day

57-8 met yel lkpt 97 copy

From the archives… in 1997 I went to a car show in Lockport and snapped this late 1950s Nash Metropolitan. It’s no newer than 1958, as vent windows showed up on the ’59 hardtops, and this one doesn’t have ’em. I had to laugh at the old brochure with compares the Met to a VW, Ford Anglia, Renault Dauphine, and Hillman Minx. It compares the styling, comfort and convenience, engine, and performance, and brags about the Met’s nationwide parts and service network, but kind of glosses over the fact that it’s the only two-seater of the five. As Ralph Kramdem might comment, “A mere bag of shells.”
