YAK Car Pic of the Day

47 dodge grn whtfld copy

Regular readers of this space (and if you’re not regular, try eating more fiber) know that I’m not usually a big fan of custom wheels and tires on old cars. But when I saw the full Moon discs and wide whites on this 1947 Dodge Custom the other day, I nodded in approval. These are even cooler than the Baby Moons I had on my ’77 Mercury Bobcat(!?). On another note, it’s difficult to see one of these late forties’ Mopar sedans without bringing to mind some old movie scene with a taxi cab in it, as these cars seemed to be the hack’s post-war ride of choice. At least in Hollywood. Saw these green giant earlier in the week in Wheatfield.

Well done and so much more alluring than yesterday’s sad Mercury with the 21′ shoes right out of Who Shot Roger Rabbit?

  • Haha… I currently drive an 80 Pinto(!?) w/baby moons. I agree the wheels on the above dodge are sweet.
