YAK Car Pic of the Day

200x VW Amarok copy

Scanning the globe we are today, where YAK reader Alan Bedenko came across this Volkswagen Amarok pickup truck while visiting the Republic of Croatia last year. (A little snow picture always brightens things up in the middle of summer!) The Amarok gets my vote as one of the worst model names to grace four wheels. According to Wikipedia (which is never wrong) Amarok is Inuit for “wolf” — I was hoping for something more exotic. It’s built at VW’s plant in Argentina, and is sold in South American, Oceanic, and European markets. No official word yet on when or if it will ever go on sale in North America. In the meantime, brush up on your Portuguese and check out the Amarok on the VW do Brasil webpage.
