YAK Car Pic of the Day

Visiting a repair shop in Youngstown yesterday I came across this 1960 Ford Falcon. I know for a fact that this orange paint job isn’t original, but at least it’s well done. When we were kids, Dad bought Mom a new ’60 Falcon Tudor for her birthday: Adriatic Green, straight-six, three-on-the-tree, and an AM radio which didn’t even have pushbuttons. Unfortunately it was totaled three years later by a ’59 Impala. The compact Falcon was new for 1960, Ford’s answer to the popular-selling VW Beetle. It didn’t stem the Beetle’s tide, but Ford did manage to sell over 435,000 of them that first year. Not too shabby!
