YAK Car Pic of the Day

Meet the compact 1989 Cadillac Eldorado. Looks nice, but it seems like something’s missing. Like, about three feet’s worth of car! That’s because Cadillac lopped-off almost two feet in the first downsizing in 1979, then almost another foot for the 1986 models. It’s certainly not a bad-looking car, especially without the usual padded roof you see on so many. I guess they figured that sales increased by around a third in ’79 so… Hmm. We’ll be kind here and say the downsizing fairy took the day off when the ’86 models rolled out, and sales probably didn’t meet Cadillac’s expectations. Needless to say, when the next restyling occurred for the 2002 models, the were more Cadillac-like. In other words, bigger. Saw this brown one a while back in Sanborn.
