YAK Car Pic of the Day

62 suburban grn nf copy

Came across this 1962 Chevy Panel Truck while passing through a parking lot in Niagara Falls last week. Back in those days a panel truck was pretty much a Suburban without the extra windows and seats. They were done-in by the advent of the van — Ford Econoline, Dodge A100, and the Chevy/GMC vans. The van world is coming full-circle these days, with the introduction of smaller vans once again, like the Ford Transit Connect, Dodge ProMaster City, and the upcoming Chevy City Express. Who knows? Maybe some day we’ll see another windowless, seatless Suburban in the showroom.

Sweet ride. Always liked the hood design of the old Chevy trucks – aerodynamics? Whats that?
