YAK Car Pic of the Day

Another one from our stroll around downtown Buffalo on Friday evening. This is a 1978 Volkswagen Type 2, commonly called the VW Bus. It was a totally new vehicle the previous year, replacing the original Type 2 which was also called the Microbus and strangely marketed in the U.S. as the VW Station Wagon. The Type 2 name refers to VW’s second vehicle to go to market after the Type 1 (Beetle); the Type 3 was the Squareback/Fastback, while the Type 4 was the larger 411/412 of 1968-74 — VW’s first major flop. Saw this blue bus on Main Street.
