YAK Car Pic of the Day

From the YAK archives… from our 2013 Texas road trip — with newly-minted ex-GI daughter Katie at the Wrench A Part just outside of Austin, where she strikes a pose in front of an old VW Vanagon. Available in the U.S. from 1979-1992, the Vanagon replaced the old Type 2 Bus, and was eventually replaced itself by the Eurovan in 1993. VW keeps teasing us with rumors about a new Bus in the works, but so far nothing concrete has materialized. This blue Vanagon, judging from the styling cues, is one of the early ones, from ’79 or the early ’80s.
