YAK Car Pic of the Day

77 cutlass wht nf 2 copy

Had to double-back around to get a shot of this 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass S coupe the other day before its owner came out of the store and drove it away. In the mid-1970s, the Olds Cutlass was selling like hotcakes, and this coupe was the lowest-price Cutlass available. For my money, this fastback coupe was much prettier than the formal-roofed Cutlass Supreme, but apparently the buying public disagreed. Sales of the S coupe were just over 70,000 while the Cutlass Supreme’s numbers were almost 243,000. Oh well, what do I know?  This beauty, seen during the week in Niagara Falls, looks like it was bought at F&W Olds, which was on Bailey Avenue at East Ferry in Buffalo.

Agreed, Jim…the S is a far better looking machine than the Supreme and an example that all of Detroit wasn’t asleep at the wheel during the late 70’s.
