YAK Car Pic of the Day

parts is parts ton copy

They say “Parts is parts,” and from the looks of these three I imagine that’s all they’re good for at this point. From left to right: 1971 AMC Javelin, 1966-67 Chevy Corvair, and 1977-78 Ford Pinto. Yes, they’ve been picked-over, but I still see some salvageable parts there. Or, if you’re a real masochist, buy one of ’em and try to get it back on the road! They’re in Tonawanda, and I don’t imagine they’ll be going anyplace soon.

The Ford Pinto is absolutely the worst car I ever owned. Can’t imagine anyone even trying to keep one on the road.

I must have been a glutton for punishment, having bought a brand new 1974 Ford Pinto, and its twin, a 1977 Mercury Bobcat. Actually never had any trouble with either — and the Bobcat was smacked square in the rear end, even denting the gas tank, by a full-sized Mercury.
