  • Sean Danvers

So, does Paladino’s nomination as both the most-needed and least needed person cancel itself out and teleport him to the land of wind and ghosts?

    • Lamont Cranston

We should be so lucky. I keep hoping one of his rage fits will kill him, but apparently Satan wants him alive.

      • Betty Brown

yeah carl paladino is WNY’s donald sterling. and the buffalo media captures his every word, move and tantrum. shameful how he hijacked the buffalo school board. how long will the brown skinned people allow him to elbow them out, bully and trample over them?

  • Jim Johnson

Don Paul as best TV Personality ?????? People must have thought it said Most Arrogant !!! These guys love patting themselves on the back when they get a forecast right (which may be a quarter of the time) but don’t say a word when they’re wrong !!!

  • Jason

The canoes won best public art? Seriously???

  • + Raven Faust +

Awesome the CAnoes are great, they dont ask politicans for money or lobby !! Or better yet they dont work in the town hall 😀

  • + Raven Faust +

So what is the meaning of the Talking, talking, talking make the talker the best local tv talker?

  • Diana Renee

Meh, never a shock with 99% of these. I feel like the ambiance/hipness/location gives most of these places their edge over them actually being good.If it isn’t in Allentown, Elmwood, the “hip” part of the West Side or Hertel, or in an upscale suburb its chance of winning declines exponentially. This is exhibit A of “people don’t leave their comfort zone (class bubble)” – it’s no coincidence Artvoice is heavily distributed in those areas.

Sure, there are exceptions, but they just prove the rule. I mean…Fat Bob’s as best bbq again? Suzy’s is FAR better, but not in a trendy area and not “artsy” looking. Pandora’s on Filmore blows Gigi’s away for soul food too but it’s on Filmore, so no love (not even a nomination). Red Pepper winning? I’ve been a few times and it is meh. Being in a nice, sitdown restaurant versus the typical divey corner Chinese place doesn’t make the food better. Taste Good is way better.

A lot of these places win again and again or there are so few in the category it isn’t even a competition. It sort of becomes a “what’s the point of doing this?” after awhile.

    • Lamont Cranston

This is so true. I’ve been in Buffalo for 20 years and the nominees/winners don’t change that often. And why even have a Best Head Shop category? Exactly how many of these establishments are in Buffalo?

  • Guest

Who the heck votes on these? Gaunches unite? really? effin ashamed by this travesty of “bests”..this is a JOKE. and with the evisceration of brown i don’t think the schools are underreported at all
