Some might say I’m obsessed with the FX television Cold War-era series The Americans because of the cars. While they’re certainly interesting, I don’t know too many people who are “obsessed” with mid-1980s American sedans. Blah. But on last week’s episode, our Comrade KGB agent, living the good life in suburban Washington, D.C. with his arranged wife and their two kids, splurges and buys a new 1984 Chevy Camaro Z28. I realize it’s a 30-year-old car at this point, but the way they kept focusing on it throughout the episode, and even took us into a Chevy dealer so Comrade Phillip and his young son Henry could kick some tires, makes me think there was some promotional consideration paid by Chevrolet to the producers.
