YAK Car Pic of the Day

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

If yesterday’s Bel Air was an ugly stepsister (it wasn’t, though), then today’s 1958 Chevy Impala is Cinderella made-up for a night out on Chippewa Street —  that is, the tawdry 1970s-era Chippewa Street. In what turned out to be a sneak preview of just how far the stylists at GM would go to make a point (the point being: less is less and more is so much more!), the Impalas, Bonnevilles, Ninety-Eights, and Roadmasters of recession-year 1958 made it look like The General had gotten a bargain-basement price on a flotilla-load of chrome. Yikes! They should have handed out sunglasses with every car — for the passers-by! This black beauty, like yesterday’s pic car, was at last summer’s Labor Day car show at Niawanda Park in Tonawanda.
