Doesn’t seem like that long ago, does it? No, I don’t mean the snow on the ground, I mean when cars like this Pontiac Firebird Trans Am roamed the streets and kept gas station owners in business. (Come to think of it though, the snow wasn’t that long ago, either.) This purple number, waiting-out spring in a Niagara Falls yard, is from the ’76-’77-’78 flock of ‘Birds; the ’75s had a black rubber strip running across the bumper, while the ’79s moved the license plate down onto the bumper. Was that purple paint job a standard Firebird color? Not for any of those three years — see below.
