YAK Car Pic of the Day

54 dodge taxi f

Driving up Military Road in Kenmore/Tonawanda yesterday, this bright green and yellow taxi catches the corner of my eye. It’s a 1954 Dodge Meadowbrook, wearing the Bedford Taxi livery. Came home and did a quick internet search looking for some old Dodge cab info, and don’t I find this exact car for sale in North Carolina on eBay last January, which was not sold because of an error in the seller’s info. Digging a bit deeper, there it was again on a site called 2040cars.com, again in N.C.  Here’s some info on the car: only 48,000 miles on the odometer; three-on-the-tree; new tires and interior; and a newly rebuilt 230 CID engine (you could already tell from the photo that it was a six, as the V-8s announced themselves via an emblem on the hood). Neither site had a selling price, but the eBay listing had a suggested starting bid of $3,500. Driving this around will certainly get someone noticed!

couldn't avoid this thru-the-fence shot!

couldn’t avoid this usually-verboten thru-the-fence shot!

I’d buy it, put in some seat belts and park it on Chippewa to await bar-hipsters who over consumed and take them home. All at a generous fee, of course.
