YAK Car Pic of the Day

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Well, today seems as good a day as any for a top-down convertible pic from last July. This very rare 1953 Nash-Healey drop-top was on display at the Grand Nashionals Nash Show in Batavia last summer. A total of only 162 Nash-Healeys were sold for model year 1953, and that number is for convertibles and coupes combined. The convertible, when new, listed for $5,908 while the coupe, a new model for ’53, sold for $6,399 — a small fortune 60 years ago! If the car looks vaguely familiar, maybe it’s because Clark Kent drove one in four episodes of the old Superman television series. The car used in the show, seen below, in real life belonged to actor Dick Powell (imcdb.org photo).
