2014 Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker

Dodge recently announced the limited availability of the throwback “shaker hood” for the 2014 Challenger R/T — and promptly sold out all 2,000 of them in four days. The iconic, and functional, hood scoop first appeared on the 1970 Challenger (below) and Plymouth ‘Cuda back in the “muscle car” era. The new scoop is true to the original design, right down to the “HEMI” letting on the sides. I wonder how many of these 2,000 were bought as speculative investments?

So Jim…why didn’t you tell us about this before they sold out?
And how “true” are they? That new one looks kinda plastic to me.

I used to love these cars. Now they just remind about how we continued to build cars for teenagers while the Japanese were building sensible cars and kicking our ass.
