Mazurek v. Gabryszak, At Last

If you were paying attention to Tuesday’s blizzard, you may have missed the fact that a seventh woman has filed a notice of claim with the state, indicating her intention to bring a lawsuit accusing Assemblyman Dennis Gabryszak (D-Creepytown) of sexual harassment. That woman is Kristy Mazurek, of the 2Sides political TV program and Steve Pigeon’s AwfulPAC

Mazurek worked for Gabryszak between October 2008 and June 2009. Her notice of claim is here, and it details similar types of lecherous, obnoxious, misogynist harassment that the other six women have claimed.

The problem is that the statute of limitations for any claim Mazurek might make expired, at best, 2 years ago. She can bring the notice, and even bring suit, but there’s no merit to any of it. So, one can only surmise that it’s been brought to bolster the existing allegations, or to make an extra headline or two.

But here’s something that’s been nagging at me. Of all the various and sundry complaints that have been brought against Dennis the creep, only one accuser made her allegations under oath.  Attorney Johnny Destino signed for Freling, Snickles, and Campbell. Attorney John Bartolomei signed for Trimper and Tardone, as he did for Mazurek. Only Caitrin Kennedy verified the allegations in her claim, under oath

I don’t think it necessarily means anything substantively, so I point it out for its own sake. What is notable is the fact that Gabryszak has been completely silent on the matter since it became a thing in mid-December – he has not even deigned to deny the allegations in any way.

    1. Your link to Mazurek’s “Notice of Claim” actually linked to a complaint letter from her counsel to Sheldon Silver, referring to a notice of claim being filed contemporaneously.
    2. The law permits an attorney to verify pleadings on behalf of the client if the client does not reside in the county where the attorney maintains his office. I bet you’ve done that a time or two.
    3. Gabby is paying a hefty price for his opposition to NY SAFE, and for exploring a possible primary run against Polancarz, eh?

    • Black Rock Lifer

Yeah, these 7 women decided to make this up because “Gabby” opposed the Safe Act, that must be it.

      • UncleBluck

Hamlin….don’t you have any of your skewed Obama poll numbers to throw out there as well as your ridiculous local political analysis

    • 1. Whatever.
      2. I know it permits it. I just fund it curious that it was done in 6/7 and not in 1/7.
      3. Dumb analysis is dumb.

        3. OK – time to spell it out.
The Machine will usually circle the wagons around a loyal pol when “trouble comes a-knockin” (e.g. Charlie Rangel, Sam Hoyt, Barney Frank). But when a guy rocks the party boat and then gets something caught in the wringer, the stench of self-righteous is always evident from the Machine. Hence, the pontification from Cuomo (NYSAFE) and Poloncarz (Pigeon-shit).
        Learn from observing, Alan.

      • Riiiight. You left out the illuminati and the UFOs.

      • hwhamlin

You’re right, Alan. Politics never motivates the actions of politicians.

      • That must explain Spitzer’s rapid downfall. His support of the SAFE act.

Observing what, exactly-the latest fevered delusions from Alex Jones’ mind?

This is just run of the mill stuff compared to Spitzer’s frolicking with his mostly naked girlfriend in Jamaica over the holidays—. If I was still in Erie County I’d vote for Poloncarz. He’s a leader, and his definition of bi-partisanship and compromise isn’t “CAVE REPUBLICANS CAVE!”. This nimno couldn’t beat Poloncarz anyway. Let him try, with scandal or without IMO it would be a joke.

    • How is this run of the mill compared to a false story about a man who is separated from his wife and supposedly enjoyed a hot tub with his girlfriend? He’s not an elected official, he’s free to date whomever he chooses, and he can “frolic” however he wants to. Furthermore, the Daily News actually did a little digging and found out that the whole thing is a load of horseshit. The Daily News uses investigation and receipts while the Post uses a “10 year-old boy”.

      • Hank Kaczmarek

As usual, you decided to reply to half of what I wrote. You and Poloncarz on the outs or something?

      • No, I didn’t respond to your Poloncarz quip because it didn’t need a response from me.

    • ckg1

Hank: As Alan noted…Spitzer is, at the present time, not in politics.

      So….who the F cares?

      Apparently, you do.

  • Tell the Truth

Does anyone know what the common denominator here is?

    Kristy Mazurek = Steve Pigeon
    Johnny Destino = Steve Pigeon
    John Bartolomei = Steve Pigeon

As usual – it’s covered with Pigeon s**t.

    • Indeed, but in this instance, so what?

      • Tell the Truth

So what? Doesn’t matter whose career is ended – as long as Pigeon survives. Eventually the other shoe will fall.

      • This whole thing transcends petty intraparty squabbles, much less interparty politics.

If Ms. Mazurek showed up in a nun’s habit having taken her vows, she still would rank at the bottom of my credibility rankings of the staffers involved. I actually think Gabryszak is dirty in this affair, but Ms. Mazurek strikes me as an opportunist.
