YAK Car Pic of the Day

The good news is that I received one of these for Christmas in 1955. The bad news is I played the heck out of it instead of saving it until eBay was invented! It’s Ideal’s Fix-It Car of Tomorrow, which had working headlights and horn,  a spare tire along with a jack and tools for changing it, and an assortment of different license plates. This thing was HUGE — 16″ long, and loosely based on Buick’s XP-300 dream car (see below). There was a Fix-It car recently on eBay with a starting bid of $99.99 which surprisingly had no takers. The one in the photo is currently for sale on, with a starting price of $175, again with no takers so far.— Jim Corbran, You Auto Know
