YAK Car Pic of the Day

Just finished watching another coming-of-age movie. In this one, The Way, Way Back, Steve Carell plays a really creepy boyfriend to the coming-of-ager’s mother. And even though the movie is set in modern times (much cheaper than setting it in the ’80s, which is what the producers originally had in mind), Carell’s car salesman character drives this loaded-up 1970 Buick Estate Wagon (the first full-sized Buick wagon since the ’64 model). It was neat when station wagons, as far back as the mid-1960s, came with the side-opening tailgates — they made it much easier to get in and out of for those rides where we hung out the back window!
