YAK Car Pic of the Day

48 merc

A number of years ago I saw this black 1948 Mercury Eight town sedan parked in a driveway in Lewiston. At the time it was green, but we never got a good photo. These days it’s often parked in a Niagara Falls used car lot, where I’ve heard it was for sale. A quick Google search turned up several ads, where we found asking prices for the 77,000-mile car ranging from $14,500 up to $18,000. According to the ad in Hemmings, it has the original flathead V-8, and the interior and much of the chrome has been restored. Looks like someone’s done most of the work for the next owner. — Jim Corbran, You Auto Know

**** UPDATE  ****

Hah! I actually did have a photo of the car before the new paint job, and I just found it tonight (12/10).
