This 1970 Cougar XR-7 convertible is emblematic of some of the strange grille treatments seen in Mercury dealerships of the era. The ’70 model was of the second-generation of Cougars, which was introduced in 1969; and possibly the last one to be fondly remembered before the nameplate took one too many trips to the buffet table, if you know what I mean. This blue convertible was spotted earlier in the week on Grand Island.
