This 1968 Mercury Cougar was the more sophisticated cousin of Ford’s Mustang. Which also meant more expensive. Which also also meant fewer sales. In my book, Cougars were so-so; this first generation (’67-’68) was the only one I cared very much for. The next gen wasn’t too bad (’69-’70), but after that?  Fuhgeddaboudit! This white example was seen last week out front of a North Tonawanda repair shop (maybe getting that fresh-looking quarter panel whack fixed?). — Jim Corbran, You Auto Know

      Headlight doors ever screw up on you? I was a hero to a friend who didn’t have the wherewithal to check the manual to see how to activate a misbehaving headlamp door.

        Nope – it was a great car except the freezing door locks – I eventually traded it in for a 1972 corvette from glen campbell –
