Election Day 2013

This is it. Some of the races being decided today began way back in February. Sergio Rodriguez, the 33 year-old Marine running for Mayor of Buffalo on the Republican and Progressive Party lines announced on February 6th. He’s worked hard, and his candidacy has transcended partisanship and honed in on issues that affect every resident of the city of Buffalo.

I don’t expect too many surprises today. There are a handful of close races, from what I hear, but it’s up to you now to go out and cast a vote for the candidates whom you support.

Yesterday, Chris Smith, Brad Riter, and I had great fun recording an hourlong podcast discussing this year’s election cycle and WNY politics in general. As you might expect, it’s as profane as it is funny, so all you delicate flowers who were shocked by this post will want to stay away. The rest of you will likely enjoy it.

Alan…..Mark Manna for supervisor….really? you gotta be kidding…a few months ago you told me I should be voting for Dunn in the democratic primary and when I brought up Dobson you said he had no chance of winning and to go with the guy who at least had a chance of beating Howard……I think you need to study up on Mr Manna…..

    • Dobson has no chance of winning. He’s underfunded and Dunn is helping split the anti-Howard vote. I’m not picking based on who has a chance of winning. I’m picking based on who I think is the best choice. It’s not predictions; it’s preferences.

As for Manna, he’s fantastic in town hall, he’s a responsive and good town councilman who has the best interests of his constituents at heart. I’m not a fan of Dr. Barry’s, and never will be.

By the looks of your picks Alan, you are just going Dem. with a couple of exceptions. As for Mr Manna is anything but fantastic….he is an uneducated (high school diploma) bully who like to yell and castigate other board member when he does not get his way. I know this as I have sat there and watched. He was also the guy who tried to circumvent the town board and Weinstein when he wanted to trade the Westwood golf course for the much more valuable Audubon golf course for his developer friends. As for his commercials saying if elected he could have somehow prevented the hotels being built in Williamsville (which all meet planning and code requirements and are not the only large buildings in Williamsville) he cannot do anything with one vote as supervisor that he could not do as a councilmember. And for his claim to lower taxes ….Barry has already done that…Mr Manna has no chance of being elected…..Weinstein is too popular and I don’t believe he has ever lost a bid for elective office..as for Dunn he may be taking away votes from Howard as well today as the primary voters saw through his guise and saw him for the Republican/conservative running as a democrat to get elected when in all reality he is not…it will be interesting to see how that all plays out…..Remember ….you told me Dobson had no chance of winning the primary either……

I’m hoping what Dunn is actually doing is splitting the violent jackass vote, thus ensuring a Dobson victory.

While I agree with many of the preferences, the idea of the entire county being run by one party, Democrat or Republican, seems like a very risky idea to me. Debate and compromise are always good things.
