YAK Car Pic of the Day

.

.

From Saturday night’s movie on Off Beat Cinema, the 1959 Vincent Price horror-thriller The Tingler, we have this 1959 Mercury Montclair two-door hardtop Cruiser (really, that’s what the brochure calls it). The Montclair was in the middle of the Mercury lineup for 1959, between the cheaper Monterey and the more expensive Park Lane. And sharp-eyed YAK readers may have already noticed the name of the bank next to the movie theatre the wacky pathologist Dr. Chapin (Price) is parking in front of — Mercury Trust. A pretty off-beat coincidence, if you ask me.
