YAK Car Pic of the Day

Been passing this 1967 Oldsmobile Delta 88 sitting in a Grand Island garage for months now. Yesterday, someone finally decided it needed some air, and I just happened to pass by with my camera at the ready. The Delta 88 was Olds’ middle nameplate in the full-sized lineup — just above the new-for-1967 Delmont 88, and below the luxo Ninety-Eight. Somewhere in there was also a Delta 88 Custom, just to confuse buyers even more. The ’67 Delta was a special car — just ask the brochure copy-writers: “Svelte is the word for Delta’s clean uncluttered rear sculpturing…” Hmm… I think I once read that same line about a dancer in an ad for the Palace Burlesque! You can read more syrupy descriptions of the new ’67 Oldses here.
