YAK Car Pic of the Day

Another pre-downsized GM car, this one a 1977 Chevy Monte Carlo; perhaps the car that started the personal luxury coupe segment back in 1970. There may have been others before it (Buick Riviera, Ford Thunderbird, and Pontiac Gran Prix come to mind), but once Chevy got in the game — well, it was a whole new game. By ’77 the Monte had gotten quite rotund, and the following year Chevy introduced the more svelte ’78 model. Which was better? Well, we had a ’79, so I guess I’m rather partial. This bluish-greenish example was seen last week in a Niagara Falls parking lot.
