YAK Car Pic of the Day

.

.

Passed by this 1964 Checker Marathon in Clarence on the way to Batavia Saturday. From the paint job I’d guess it’s a former taxi (what are the odds?). I didn’t really look inside, but the current registration sticker on the windshield lists it as a nine-passenger vehicle, so it must have the jump seats. I liked these older Checkers much better than after the government-regulated five-mph bumpers got tacked on. Checker didn’t want to (or maybe just couldn’t by then) spend the money to retool the fenders to accommodate the bigger bumpers, so they just tacked them on. Yuk.
