YAK Car Pic of the Day

.

.

Walked down to Canal Fest yesterday, and parked near the Broad Street end in Tonawanda was this 1969 Chevy Caprice. The windshield graphic would indicate that it’s owned by a member of the Evolution Car Club; and sure enough, there it it at around the six-and-a-half minute mark in this You Tube video of club members’ rides. The Caprice supplanted the Impala as Chevy’s top full-sized car line in 1965; the Impala name totally disappeared (well, temporarily, as it turned out) after the 1985 model year. The Caprice nameplate itself disappeared (again, temporarily) after the 1996 model year. And no, those wheels weren’t an original Chevy option.

If they had to stick the taillights in the bumper, this 1969 model was the best look for them.
