Beer School at Gene McCarthy’s Tavern

And what does Beer School have to do with You Auto Know? Well, we did have to drive to get there.
It was a fun night out with new friends in an old haunt. I used to hang around at Gene McCarthy’s Tavern (and was even a member of the S&AC) back in the 1980s. Tonight proved you can go home again; although, I can’t imagine a classical pianist and cello player in the back room back in the day. I can though, imagine a bunch of people sitting around drinking beer. Happened every day right there at 73 Hamburg St.
The set up was pretty neat: a cheese platter for two, a bowl of gazpacho, and nine different beer tastes, specially selected and served along with nine different classical music pieces. I didn’t recognize any of the beers, but surprisingly I did recognize a few of the musical pieces. What the…?
Check this Facebook link to see when they might be doing it again, and get a table together and go already!
