YAK Car Pic of the Day

.

.

Just finished reading an article about Audrey Hepburn in the May issue of Vanity Fair. The piece is about a book her son has published of her time spent living in Rome, including a gazillion never-seen-before photos. In one of them, she and her husband are standing next to a red Alfa Romeo convertible. And just the other day, I saw this yellow Alfa Romeo Spider, a Series 4 model circa 1991-93. It was sitting off the side of a street in Niagara Falls at an almost impossible camera angle, and looks like it has just been painted. The 1993 models were the last of this series of Spiders, as a whole new car was introduced for 1995 to replace it. Below right is a different shot from the 2012 book, which is called Audrey in Rome, edited by Ludovica Damiani and Luca Dotti (Hepburn’s son). You can read the VF piece here.

(Incredibly, after this was posted last night, I saw another one of these Alfas today (Tues.) just around the corner from where this yellow one was parked.)
