YAK Car Pic of the Day

This 1973 Dodge Challenger Rallye epitomizes the spirit of this blog when I first began it a few years ago as Wheels in the Grass. The idea was to find cars or trucks which had been parked and forgotten about — forgotten so long that they were slowly sinking into the sunset, as it were. And this gold Mopar with the gnarly rims was doing just that when I found it a few summers ago in the Town of Brant. The Rallye package included (among other things): a performance hood, blacked-out grille, fender scoops, rallye gauge cluster, heavy-duty shocks, and rallye suspension. The standard sound system back in 1973 was the song in your head, as even a lowly AM radio was optional! Here’s a link to an abbreviated Challenger brochure.

Maybe I’m getting old and stodgey or maybe we should go back to the “song in your head” philosophy. With my new state of the art car radio I mostly just get annoyed and turn the thing off. Thank God for my Ipod port.
