YAK Car Pic of the Day

.

.

So you need a car. And you need a truck? Here’s one that’s both: the 1987 GMC Caballero (and you thought I was going to say Chevy El Camino); the brochure called it a “luxury-car pickup.” This was, obviously, the GMC version of the El Camino, indistinguishable from each other from more than ten feet away. To further confuse things, this one has a Chevrolet nameplate on the grille where it should say Caballero. All the other badging adds up though (including the one on the steering wheel) so let’s assume it really is the GMC version. This was the final year for both the Caballero and the El Camino, making this one, which is for sale in a Cambria yard, maybe worth a bit more (especially considering its condition).

This is my car!!! I bought it from the guy who owned it in NY! I put new rims/tires on it and have started addressing the small patches of rust and mechanical issues. Charlie

This is my car! I bought it and had it brought back to my home in Connecticut. I’ve put new rims/tires on it and am addressing the rust and mechanical issues. Finding those Caballero emblems for the front is hard!!

Strangely enough, seeing the date- I bought it about 3-4 days after this photo was taken haha
