Democratic HQ Petitioning for Tolbert?

Last night I saw in the hands of a Democratic Party committee member who is aligned with party headquarters a nominating petition for Bernie Tolbert, who is challenging Mayor Byron Brown in the September Democratic primary. The guy carrying the petition wasn’t freelancing; he didn’t get the petition from the Tolbert campaign and add it to the stack of petitions he was asked to carry for the candidates Democratic HQ is supporting. The Tolbert petition was included in that stack.

Maybe it’s just some neighborhoods, maybe it’s everywhere. We’re checking around. In any case, it seems like the deal between Erie County Democratic Party Chairman Jeremy Zellner and the Brown camp—Zellner secures the party’s endorsement for the mayor and both sides play nice—is pretty much the fiction it seemed to be from the start.

North Buffalo likes Bernie, no problem getting his petitions signed around here. We did have to get them from BT campaign. No help from headquarters
